The members of SARA
welcome all radio enthusiasts, old timers, newly licensed
Amateurs and non-hams (citizen band operators, scanner &
short wave listeners). You are invited to visit with us at
our monthly meetings and even to visit with us individually
at some of our ham stations. The best way to learn more
about the Amateur Radio hobby is to attend meetings and/or
events and meet our members. Many live close to you and are
willing to mentor or "Elmer" you in your quest to become a
ham or to enhance your operating skills and knowledge.
Click on "Meetings" in the left column of this page and come
to a meeting.
We will not only
suggest you read a book to learn about ham radio, but we
will help you understand the material you need to know in
order to become an active, informed ham. We can also discuss
what types of equipment you might need as well as typical
new & used equipment costs.
DARTT, the Delaware
Amateur Radio Testing Team, is closely aligned with SARA and
offers testing for Amateur license. DARTT members typically
offer testing at monthly SARA meetings at 6:30 prior to the
general membership meeting. Contact our Team Leader,
w3tl@arrl.net , for information regarding other testing
dates or scheduling of a convenient testing session.
DARTT
also offers ARRL ARECC, Amateur Radio Emergency
Communications Course, Level One instruction and examination
for groups. These must be scheduled in advance. Future plans
are to offer ARRL ARECC Level Two course instruction and
examination by the end of the March 2008 and Level Three by
the end of the year.
